As I watched a woman sob that Terri Schiavo's situation was tearing her apart, I was struck by the complete self absorption. As the Schiavo family struggled with a terrible situation, this woman seemed focused on what the situation meant to her. Maybe that's what all of those other protesters were thinking as well. Maybe that's what the politicians are thinking; how will this affect me? It amounts to another wedge issue in the end. There will be no winners.
